With a wide and varied selection of ski apparel,
ranging from the lightest weight shells to the warmest
insulated garments, Boots 'n Boards has you covered in
comfort and protected from the elements. From the function
of North Face and Marmot, to the sophistication of Bogner
and Killy.
We recognize that each skier has different requirements
for warmth, mobility, moisture management and breathability.
For the past several years, layering has been a popular
option for many people. A typical layered system of skiwear
is comprised of a next-to-skin base layer for warmth and
moisture control, sometimes folowed by a turtleneck, a
200-wt or 300-wt Polartec fleece for insulation, and a
Goretex shell for maximum protection from wind and snow.
The method offers the flexibility of adding or shedding
layers as temperatures change, and also allows each component
to be used independently during other times of the year.
As an alternative to a layered system, some skiers still
choose the convenience of putting on 1 outer garment.
Today's parkas, suits and ski pants utilize technical
fabrics and insulations that allow for comfort in a wide
range of temperatures and conditions. For example, new
insulations such as Outlast actually change state (more
solid vs. more liquid) in order to retain or release heat,
depending on body temperature. When these types of state-of-the-art
insulation are combined with one of today's 'smart' outer
fabrics, whose pores open and close for temperature regulation,
the result is a versatile, lightweight insulated garment
that will provide comfort in a wide range of temperatures
and conditions. These advancements have prompted somewhat
of a resurgence of interest in insulated garments over
the past couple of years. |
